Information about baggage and luggage limitations for many flights

» Baggage Allowance for

American Airlines

American Airlines has a different policy from the rest of the airline companies as it does not subject weight based on class nor to the price of the ticket. If you are using American Airlines as a means of domestic transport between the U.S, U.S Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, then you will be charged $25 for the first checked- in baggage and $35 for the second checked- in baggage each way regardless of weight. These charges also apply if you are travelling to international locations where your first bag will be checked in for free but your second bag will incur a charge of $50. There are exceptions to these charges depending on the type of ticket you purchase. You can view the full list of exceptions by clicking here. Please view the tables below to see which weight restrictions apply to you.
