Virgin Atlantic offers a piece system instead of the traditional weight system widely adopted by many other airlines. The piece system was implemented on 25th November 2009 but if you purchased your ticket before then you could still use the traditional weight system. The piece system was implemented to lower overall charges for the customer. Please refer to the table below to see what limitations apply to you.

| Economy | You are allowed to take up to 1 bag which should not exceed 23kg. 2 bags are allowed if travelling to Kenya/Nigeria which should not exceed 23kg per bag. |
| Premium Economy | You are allowed to take up to 2 bags which should not exceed 23kg per bag. |
| Upper | You are allowed to take up to 3 bags which should not exceed 32kg per bag. |
| Infant Allowance | You are allowed to take up to 1 bag which should not exceed 23kg. |
| Gold Card Holders | You are allowed to take an additional bag of up to 23kg. |
